Hi, I’m Andrew Cairns, a Scottish dad living in Austin, Texas, who somehow went from serving unwashed potato skins to studying at Culinary School at the Central Texas Food Bank.
Cooking wasn’t always my thing. I mostly lived on my parents food until I left Scotland for Australia.
Somewhere between Melbourne and Cairns, I stayed with a stranger named Jai, my gran’s friend’s son’s mate, who became one of my biggest influences.
On my second night, I tried to impress him by frying dirty potatoes. He refused to eat them. I ate them out of spite. He said, “I’d rather you sat on my face than eat your food.” My first cooking review.
Turns out, Jai was an amazing cook, and under his wing, I learned the basics, and fell in love with food.
I then met Anya, learned to cook better to impress her.
Now in Austin, Texas with Anya, and three kids later. It worked.
I’m on a mission to help people rediscover real food, the kind that nourishes, connects, and sparks joy.
Feed people. Feed connection. Feed joy.
