I’m Luke Docherty – Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, Royal Australian Navy veteran, and the mind behind The Tactical Grappler.

After 12 years of military service and over a decade on the mats, I realised most grapplers train without structure, intention, or strategy. They roll hard but improve slow. My mission is to fix that.

Through the Tactical Grappler framework, I teach athletes how to train smarter – with precision, control, and discipline. It’s about building systems, not just techniques. About training with purpose, not just “getting rounds in.”

I run Taurus Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Western Australia, where we’re raising the standard for what a BJJ academy can be. I also build digital tools, mentorships, and resources for grapplers worldwide who want more than hobby-level results.
